This post for Ada Lovelace Day.

Aleks Krotoski first popped up for me on the gaming show, Bits. Like about a million other guys, I tuned in for the promise of three girls (three! girls!) talking about Lara Croft. I was duly surprised when they knew what they were talking about – the 80s and early 90s had been so full of patronising crap. Then one presenter kept popping up, writing for the Guardian, developing a great website, commenting here and there.

Recently, her thesis on social networks spurred me into figuring out what it is I want to do for a living.

Thank you, Aleks.
